Why We Started

We started Kaizen because the tea didn’t match the moment. In cafés and at home, people had to choose between lower-grade culinary matcha that tasted harsh, grassy, and bitter, or ceremonial matcha that was too delicate and too pricey for the way most of us drink it daily.

There was a gap. So, we filled it.

We took action. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen (改善)—the idea that small, consistent improvements lead to big results—we searched Japan for farmers and tea masters who shared our vision. The result? A middle path: a premium-grade matcha and hojicha.

We worked with producers from Shizuoka to create premium matcha and hojicha that deliver on taste, consistency, and quality, without the complexity or the price tag of ceremonial grade tea. Strong enough to shine through milk, iced drinks, baked treats, and anything else you can dream up.
